Did you know skin conditions are a reflection of your internal health? Skin conditions rarely occur in isolation – most of them are a reflection of your gut health. In fact, science now tells us there is a gut-skin axis. Inflammation, stealth infections, and imbalances in the gut (dysbiosis) can lead to skin conditions such as acne, eczema, rosacea, and psoriasis to name a few. Food sensitivities are also a big contributor to skin health.
Food sensitivity testing is actually the first place to start when it comes to skin issues. We need to figure out what food or foods are triggering inflammation in the gut and therefore also in the skin. This is done with a simple food sensitivity test called a Food Align Test. It can check more than 200 foods and accurately show which are a potential root cause in your skin condition.
For gut testing we generally recommend the GI 360 Profile. This will show us if any stealth infections are present and show the balance between good and bad bacteria in the gut.
Once we figure out the food triggers and current state in the gut, we can develop a strategic plan to fix the problem. Fixing skin issues is more than just applying topical creams and taking steroid medication. To fix the problem we need to treat the internal root cause.
