4 Tests to Find Crohn’s and UC Cause

Did you know Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis can be knocked into remission if the root cause of the problem is identified and treated properly? Traditional medical treatment of these two conditions is steroids and immunosuppressant drugs. These do reduce the symptoms but do not address the root cause of the problem.

As we talked about in our last e-mail, the root cause for most autoimmune disorders is called “leaky gut” syndrome. Specific testing can be employed to identify what has caused the breakdown in the gut:

  1. The celiac and gluten sensitivity blood test checks for non-celiac gluten sensitivity and celiac disease. Problems with gluten can trigger autoimmune disorders in the body as they break down the lining of the gut. This is a common root cause.
  2. The Food Safe 190 test identifies specific food sensitivities for up to 190 different foods. Hidden food sensitivities can inflame and irritate the gut and trigger autoimmune disorders.
  3. The GI 360 Profile tests for bacterial, viral, fungal and parasitic infections that can wreak havoc on the gut, leading to autoimmune reactions.
  4. The Zonulin panel tests specifically for the presence of “leaky gut” syndrome.

These tests are the keys to finding and treating the root cause. Functional medicine is different in that it actually works to find the root cause instead of settling for just masking symptoms.
