Did you know hormone testing is easy to do and relatively inexpensive? There are 3 main hormone panels that we use to get a full look at imbalances:
- Comprehensive Plus: This is a simple, home-based saliva test. It involves collecting saliva samples upon waking up, at noon, in the late afternoon, before bed, and sometimes at night. This allows up to map cortisol levels throughout the day. We also test an important hormone called DHEA with this panel and can look at testosterone levels in men as well.
- Comprehensive Thyroid Profile: This is a home-based blood and urine test. We test several thyroid markers, nutrients related to thyroid function, and for halogens and heavy metals which can interfere with thyroid function. This is a much deeper look into the thyroid than traditional medicine testing.
- Expanded Female Hormone Profile: This is our main test for women prior to menopause when they are still having a menstrual cycle. We take saliva samples 11 different days throughout the course of their monthly cycle. This allows us to map fluctuations in estrogen and progesterone as well as looking at follicle stimulating and lutenizing hormone levels. This is the best test for women with any issues related to their menstrual cycles.
With these panels we can get a really good idea of what imbalances are present in the hormones and then put together an action plan to restore balance.
